I Knew This Would Happen

After weeks of going over every morning and evening to help get her dressed and undressed, Mom is doing much better. She's been getting herself undressed in the evenings for nearly a week, which has cut my need to help in half. Woot! I'm still going over every morning to help her dress and make sure she's taking her medicine the way she should.

But, the thing I've been dreading happened yesterday. Her home health aide gave her a bath and dressed her in the morning, and since she undresses herself at night I didn't have to go over at all for the first time in forever! It was like a mini vacation. Then about 7:00 last night Mom calls: "Aren't you going to come see me today?"

I'm so delighted she's starting to fend for herself, but I just knew this would happen.

Well, that's mostly wonderful! I know that my Dad is greatly enjoying being taken care of, and if/when he can live on his own again he'll really miss all the company and attention. :)

Today I sat and watched her get dressed all by herself! It took 20 minutes, but she did it.

You're dad is so lucky to have you looking out for him. He's going to do great! Just beware, he'll want to be a permanent house guest. LOL
