Sandy's Friends

Since my little apartment water adventure, the management and maintenance folks have been super helpful. That Friday (the 20th), they already had flooring people in to deal with replacing the laminate and the carpet pad that was torn out. Which meant Thursday evening I was moving stuff around to get things out of their way and away from any dust.

Which meant the girls and I had to make ourselves scarce starting at 9 a.m.--ordinarily for something like this I'd close them in the bedroom, but the bedroom was one of the work areas and the only other room with a door I could close them in is the bathroom, which would be far too small. So we loaded up in the car and spent time in some parks, including letting them roam on their leashes. Well, Maia roamed and ate grass, Hana wasn't very interested, lol. It was nice weather, fortunately, but it was still a really long, tiring day by the time I returned home at 6 p.m.

The hallway looked great, the carpet was tacked back down, but... they moved my bed to do the carpet and didn't move it back. :( So I slept on the air mattress again, as I had starting the day the water happened.

The next morning I promptly headed off to Bro's, since Friday was his birthday, and stayed until Monday morning when I scurried home for a volunteer group meeting (I had taken off work but needed to attend the meeting). Then I moved stuff around (again) to put at least some stuff away to get to my desk again for work on Tuesday, though everything that's supposed to go by/under my bed couldn't be put back yet...

The drywall/paint repair happened this past Friday (the 27th), which was awkward because it took like four hours and I couldn't use my bathroom that whole time. Normally I would've been onsite for work, but Friday morning Maia was having litterbox trouble, so I worked from home in order to keep an eye on her and take her (back) to the vet. We had just been to the vet on the 19th for a follow-up to see how the steroids were going--she gained a half pound in three weeks, which was great news!--and she was fine then, but the litterbox stuff reminded me of what happened last June right before I went to my conference, so I wasn't going to make the same mistake of waiting to call the vet only to have things escalate. Well, we met a different vet who was quite nice and took some urine to do analysis, but I haven't heard back from them yet so I may have to reach out tomorrow if I still don't hear anything. Either way, by yesterday morning Maia seemed back to normal, litterbox habits and all. Cats!

After the paint guy left, I had to do a lot of cleanup of the floor and surfaces of debris and smears (he had plastic down, but stuff got missed), and even pull stuff put of my sink drain, ew. But at least I could put all the bathroom stuff back, and also my bathroom is now beige instead of white, which I didn't expect, lol.

My bed is still out of place, but I moved it enough away from the wall to use it, so I finally deflated the air mattress yesterday and put it away. If the maintenance guy doesn't move my bed back tomorrow, I have errands to do on Tuesday anyway, so I'll stop and get some of those furniture slider things so I can deal with it myself. I just want to put my stuff back in place, omg.

Could be worse, though! The work email drama was a nothingburger (sigh), I have new lenses for my glasses that seem a bit better than the old ones, we have a different steroid application method for Maia though we have yet to try it (I figured I'd try to use up the liquid first and wait until a morning when I can take time to figure out the new method), and I've had a pretty chill weekend with the girls. I went to a local No Kings protest yesterday and church today and that was about it. Yay for chill weekends.

Edit: And while I was writing this, the vet wrote back about Maia's results--there's no evidence of infection, so if she's doing better (and she is), I just need to keep an eye on her. Which I do regardless these days, lol.
